Videos have patterned motion, sound, and flashing lights.

Echolocation combines digital distortions with audio recordings of echolocating animals, repurposing discarded paintings to embody cycles of creation, decay, and renewal. Digital effects interact with painted surfaces to generate shifting images that evoke primal calls, tapping into subconscious rhythms and elemental forces.

Using echolocation as both a literal sound source and conceptual framework, the project explores how processes like melting, bleaching, and feedback loops reflect the degradation and transformation of ecological systems and societal structures. Echolocation, as both a method of sounding and searching, symbolizes humanity’s ongoing quest for meaning and belonging within a fragile and interconnected landscape, where survival balances isolation and connection to the greater cosmos.
